We'll get things under way in the AFC West where Lyle Alzado is still looking for the first win on the year. She'll be looking to shake off the hangover from last year's Super Bowl loss by putting on over on Big Blue. For his part, Big Blue will be looking to break new ground here -- he came out on the short end of both their meetings last season.
Both Deesato and Mike C are off to fast starts in the AFC East, with each of them going 2-0 to open the season. One of these winning streaks will be coming to an end this week as these two go head-to-head in a fight for the clear division lead. This'll be a tricky one to call -- historically, Deesato is 4-3 over Mike C, but it's been Mike C coming out on top in three of their last four meetings.
The entire NFC North is facing divisional action this week with all four players coming in with 1-1 records. First up is first-place Ignats going up against last-place Bassturds. Ignats is leading with a 3-1-1 record between the two of them, while Bassturds will be looking for a big week in order make up some ground on a relatively low pick total.
In the middle of the division we have Pigskin Palookas taking on Rabid Ferrets, and depending how things come together it could be one of these two sitting atop the division when the weekend is over. Rabid Ferrets is riding a 4-1 record in this rivalry, but if Pigskin Palookas can get back-to-back wins this week he'd be in good shape as he heads into a difficult stretch in the schedule.
The NFC East is also full divisional action this week, beginning with last season's division (and Super Bowl) winner Bad Mice looking to return to form against Ragesters. Although it's been Bad Mice with the greater successes, last two years have favored Ragesters in their head-to-head matches -- Ragesters has come out on top in three of their last four meetings. The winner here will be boosted out of the lower half of the division come next week.
The upper half of the NFC East is also going head-to-head, with current leader Turf Toe riding a hot streak of his own over Hyena. These past two seasons have seen Turf Toe come out on top in three of their four meetings as well. With a low pick total compared to the rest of the division, it'll be important for Hyena to really be on top of his game this week.
The NFC South is three-quarters Tchorz brothers, and so far this season they've been romping. The first two Player of the Week awards went into this division, and last week it was Schleps who took the honors. Now he's going to look to keep up the hot play against the third brother, Monster Rain. For his part, Monster Rain is going to have to buck against recent history here -- he's joining the folks in the last two preview matches, having lost three of his last four against Schleps. Little-known fact: Monster Rain is the player who has been in the league for the longest time without a playoff appearance. Will this be the season he makes it over the hump?
We'll wrap this up in the NFC West where rookie Chocolate Mudbottoms is looking to give perennial regular-season powerhouse Fighting Sporks his worst start since beginning the 2006 season at 0-3. Fighting Sporks knows full well how difficult it is to rebound from a 0-2 divisional start, so this one will be critical.
All right, that'll about wrap it up for this preview -- make sure you have your Week 3 pick submissions in by Friday night at 8:00 eastern -- have a great week, all!
First is matching pair -- both the Secretly Victorious/StuB and Chocolate Mudbuttons/Fighting Sporks meetings will be decided by the same game, with Secretly Victorious and Chocolate Mudbuttons needing a win by the 49ers and StuB and Fighting Sporks looking to the Bengals to give them the victory.
Meanwhile, Monster Rain and Schleps will have to wait until the dust settles on the week, as their one-difference match is coming down to Monday Night Football. Monster Rain will be rooting hard for Dallas while Schleps is backing the Redskins this week.
And that'll do it for this week's preview -- go ahead and take a look at the pick chart and check back after Sunday's 1:00 games to see who wraps up their match early. Good luck, all!
For some strange reason, no one in the league thinks the Colts can beat the Steelers tonight (there may not be an "I" in "team", but there sure as hell is one in "Manning"). Because of this, none of the remaining matches come down to the Sunday night game. So check back tomorrow night to see how the five open matches close out.
Great job this week by Horns, whose 14-of-16 performance garners him this week's Player of the Week award -- nicely done.
And that'll about do it for another week here -- check the finalized pick chart, see how the Standings are shaping up and get a jump on your Week 4 picks submission. Have a great week, everyone!
