WEEK 6 PREVIEW

Hi all, and welcome to Week 6! We're down to only two unbeaten players left in the league -- will this be the week we one or both take a stumble? One streak that won't end here is Jr. Barnes' winless streak -- he's one of the six players on a bye this week, along with Chocolate Mudbuttons, Why Not Zoidberg?, Big Blue, Lyle Alzado and Fighting Sporks. We still need everyone to submit their picks, but these players won't be competing in a 1-On-1 match this week.

We start things off in the NFC South where all four players are seeing divisional action this week. First up is the division-leading Schwantoes looking for back-to-back divisional wins, this week against his brother Schleps. With four wins already, Schwantoes is in a pretty exclusive club so far this season -- getting a fifth would certainly be a nice boost in the rankings. For his part, Schleps is looking to take the lead in the current 4-4 lifetime record these two have against one another. With one divisional loss already this season and only one win in the NFC, it'll be very important to pull out a victory here. So far, we're seeing a lot of players keeping pace with their division leaders -- that means that when it comes time to determine who will get Wild Card spots in the playoffs, these divisional and conference matches are going to be critical.

The other half of the division will face off as well, with Mike W looking to rebound against Monster Rain. Mike W might be faltering now, but a look at the Power Rankings at the end of the 2006 season shows what he's capable of. It'll take quite a turnaround to head back toward the top of the rankings, but he's capable of it. For his part, Monster Rain is looking to go 2-0 in divisional matches and put himself into a position to take over the top spot by next week. A win here, coupled with a stumble by Schwantoes, and he could be there by the Week 7 Standings chart.

Over in the NFC East, we have two players fighting to stay out of the division basement. Turf Toe is currently there, but he can swap spots with Ragesters with a win this week. Ragesters is serious need of a divisional win, with his two losses on the season being against divisional opponents. Taking a first-half sweep against his most serious competition is going to be a tough obstacle to bounce back from. In their two years together in the league, these two have split both their season series. Whoever winds up on the wrong end of a 3-2 series here will be struggling to get out of the 4th place in the division.

On the flip side is a fight to see who takes the lead in the NFC North -- Rabid Ferrets currently holds that spot by virtue of a 2-0 divisional record, but with an identical W/L record, Bassturds can jump into the driver's seat with a win here. Pretty good odds, as Rabid Ferrets has only managed one win over Bassturds in the past three seasons.

Another pair trying to stay out of the basement are Vlad M and Ethan C in the AFC North. Each is looking for their third win on the season, and this one may end up being very important. They're sharing a division with the top-ranked player in the league -- if Mike C keeps racking up the wins, then a Wild Card spot will be all either of these two can hope for, and it'll be wins like this that can make the difference.

Ok, that's about it for this part of the preview. Make sure you have your picks submitted by 8:00 on Friday. Enjoy, all!

No surprise that with as many strong favorites as we have this week, there isn't a whole like of dissent on the pick chart. What that leads to is low-difference matches...such as these:

We'll start things off with three One-Hit Wonder Matches of the Week -- first, a matching pair where the Secretly Victorious/Ignats and Horns/Lacie Belles matches both come down to the Giants/Bills game. It'll be Secretly Victorious and Horns rooting for the Giants while Ignats and Lacie Belles back the Bills. We'll also be looking to the San Fran/Detroit game for a match winner, with Evil Squad Of Evil needing a Niners' win and Pigskin Palookas looking for the Lions to keep up their hot streak.

But while these three matches each have one difference on the board, we also have a pair of zero-difference matches. And in a 1-On-1 Pool first, it's a matched set of Monday Night Madness Matches of the Week. We have two zero-difference matches with identical score picks -- 42/43 is the dividing line, with Ragesters and Brenda's Bulldogs each getting a win with the under, while Turf Toe and Yellow Jackets will claim victory if the MNF score goes over.

And that's it for this week's preview -- go ahead and check out the completed pick chart, and good luck this week, everyone!

WEEK 6 RESULTS

1:00 Games: A lot of players picking strongly, with Mike W, Mike C, Secretly Victorious, Schleps, Horns, Schleps, Bad Mice and Vlad M each picking up a win. In addition, two players got wins as well as going perfect on the week so far, going 7-for-7 in the early sesson -- nice job, Better Name Pending and Evil Squad Of Evil!

4:00 Games: One more down as Mother Cluckers wrapped up her match. Check out the updated pick chart to see how things are coming along.

8:30 Game: Nothing wrapped up here, so check back after MNF to see how the three remaning matches shake out.

Monday Night Football: The Jets smoke the Dolphins in a low-scoring fight, giving wins to the low-score-picking Brenda's Bulldogs, Ragesters and Rabid Ferrets. Nice job by all of this week's winners!

An exceptional job by this week's Player of the Week -- he was one of two players to go 12-of-13 this week, but Better Name Pending also picked 30 as the MNF total score, and nailed it dead-on. Nicely done!

And that'll about do it for this week -- check the finalized pick chart, see how you're doing in the updated Standings and get a jump on getting those Week 7 picks submitted. Have a great week, everyone!
