Ok, on to the divisional match previews:
We'll kick things off in the AFC North where Brenda's Bulldogs is currently sitting in the #5 playoff seed, but it definitely looking to move up the ladder. She's still two wins behind the division lead, so while she couldn't take over the division lead this week, she has a shot to make up some distance if I Will Win It All slips up. Her opponent this week, Mean Machine, is down to the wire here. Running the table for the rest off the season would mean an 8-8 finish. Are the playoffs still a possibility? Mathematically, yes, they are. But there is now zero room for error.
Much like Mean Machine, Mother Cluckers is pretty much out of allowable losses. With only two wins so far, she would need to win out in order to finish above .500 on the year. While she fights for her playoff life, StuB is fighting for the AFC South lead. He and Yellow Jackets are both having terrific seasons, and if he wants to keep pace and possibly regain the division lead, then this is a "must-win" match.
NFC South leader Boardwalkers slipped out from the #1 spot in the league off of a tough loss last week. Now he finds his division lead on shaky ground as well, as a loss here leaves an opening for Beep Bops to grab the top spot for himself. But Boardwalkers still has yet to lose a match against any NFC opponent, and if Alabama Slammers is going to be the one to change that up, then he's going to have play a much stronger game than he has been. After a slow start to his season, Alabama Slammers had a nice run in the middle, but has dropped his last two matches and can't afford too many more. As it stands, his playoff odds have to be classified as "pretty low". He'll definitely need to step it up and get his first divisional win here if he wants that change.
That'll just about do it for this week's early preview -- but one quick thing: I'll be having a (hopefully) minor surgical procedure on Thursday morning. I'll get everything updated as soon as I can, and (barring anything seriously going south) the update should be done in plenty of time for kickoff. The one thing that I need from you -- please don't make me send a bunch of email nagging you for your Thursday pick. Thanks!
Ok -- make sure you have your Week 11 pick submissions in by noon on Thursday. Enjoy everyone!
There isn't much discrepancy on the board this week -- more than half of this week's matches have either two or three differences. Three matches are unanimous picks, and other three have only one player picking against the group. All in all, this week will be mostly decided by four games, most of which are in the 1:00 session. In fact, the Dolphins/Rams game is the only game outside of the early ones of signifgance to the majority players. How will that translate to wins/losses? Check back after the early games tomorrow to see -- good luck everyone!
The MIA/LA game has a chance to close out a lot of matches, so check back after the late afternoon games to see who else can notch up a "W".
One more winner will be crowned off of the late game, so check the updated pick chart and take a look back late tonight to see if it will be Hyena or Mary L getting the final Sunday win.
Four more matches left open, all coming down to tomorrow night's total score. Take a look back then to see if it's the overs, the unders, or some middle ground results that close out the week.
EDIT: Whoops! We inadvertantly marked Ignats down as having beaten Yellow Jackets, but their match is coming down to MNF total score as well.
That total score of 47 also gave us a finish to one more match as well, as it was the exact number needed to send Yellow Jackets and Ignats into a tie.
On the playoff picture front, Mike C has taken over the AFC East, while StuB is back on top of the AFC South. And while it didn't directly change the standings, a huge NFC matchup saw Fighting Sporks snap his career-worst six-match losing streak by snapping Turf Toe's six match winning streak, Turf Toe's first loss of the season in the NFC.
Jeff B has won his second Player of the Week award of the season -- something that seems to be very common this year. He's now the fourth player to have two PotW awards this season. Nicely done!
All right, keep in mind that next week has three Thanksgiving Day games, and with that comes an early deadline. Your picks for Thursday must be in by 8:00 pm Eastern on Wednesday. We have a lot going on for the holiday, so we're not going to be able to spend a lot of time chasing down people for their picks, so please make sure you have your Week 12 pick submissions in on time. Have a great week everyone!
