First off, thanks to everyone for sending well-wishes to our family. My father-in-law is much improved, and we're back home now. Much appreciated!
However, our unexpected travels has really put us up against the deadline clock here, so for now we're just going to list out the divisional matches, and expand on the preview later in the week when we have more time (EDIT: we never got time for full previews, but we expanded them a bit at least).
On the divisional track this week are:
We start out in the AFC South where the entire group is seeing divisional action. Yellow Jackets has a chance to build a nice two-match lead over second place, while Mother Cluckers can take over the top spot for herself.
Meanwhile, the bottom AFC South pair, StuB and Horns, are both looking to avoid a dreaded 0-4 start. In the long history of the pool, we have exactly one 0-4 player who turned things around and made the playoffs (Dark Forces in 2007.
Another pair bringing up the rear of their division are the AFC East's Mike C and Deesato. Both are 1-2, and while the loser of this one will be in the divisional basement, the winner will have a shot at being the division leader, depending on how Vlad M performs this week.
NFC South leader Beep Bops is unbeaten this season, and is looking to keep things rolling over Boardwalkers. This is another match where the winner is going to take a seat at the top of the division.
Ignats would take over the top spot in the NFC North with a win over Rabid Ferrets, while Rabid Ferrets looks to make it four straight wins over Ignats.
Finally, in the NFC West we have Evil Squad of Evil taking on Shucky Duckies. Evil Squad Of Evil needs to put up some wins if he wants to repeat as divisional champ, while Shucky Duckies can put himself on the cusp of the divisional lead with a victory here.
This week is also the beginning of the bye weeks. Keep in mind that even when you're on a bye, you still want to get your picks in as your pick total will count in the Standings and towards the Player of the Year race. Getting these earliest byes are Pigskin Palookas and Turf Toe.
So whether or not you have a match this week, make sure you have your picks submitted by the deadline. For the early game this week, that would be by noon on Thursday. Good luck all!
Still, having a bad week is perfecty fine, as long as you have a better week than your opponent. Having a better week so far were I Will Win It All, Deesato, Jeff B, JPP's Missing Fingers, StuB, Ethan C, Bad Mice, Ragesters, Mary L, and Hyena.
Check back later to see if the PIT/KC game wraps up any more matches.
Usually Player of the Week is a close race, with the winner picking up the award via MNF score or maybe by one pick, which is why it's always impressive when we have a week like Deesato did here, winning PotW by a two-pick margin -- nicely done!
All right, we're bumping up against the upcoming week again, so check the finalized pick chart, see how you're looking in the Standings, and get a jump on your Week 5 pick submissions. Have a good week everyone!
