As always, please feel free click around on the player pages and see if you come across any glitches or bad links anywhere on the site. And if you'd like any customization to your page, just let me know and we'll work with you to get things the way you'd prefer.

Next up is the copy-and-paste-from-last-year portion. As a service to the newcomers (and a refresher to the vets), here's a quick primer on the buttons you'll find at the bottom of this page:

Match-Ups & Results - Shows you who is going to be playing against whom, in both real NFL games and our 1-On-1 Matches. All 18 weeks are covered, so you can see past, present and future match-ups.
Submit Picks - Where you go to get your picks in. Picks for Thursday games are due in by noon that Thursday, and Sunday games are due in by noon that Saturday.
Weekly Standings - Shows how each player is doing. Contains a breakdown of all players by division and conference, plus their records. Also shows Power Rankings and a history of the season's Players of the Week.
Rules & Info (FAQ) - Pretty much every little thing you could possibly want to know about the NFL 1-On-1 Pool.
1-On-1 Pool History - Want to relive the previous seasons? Here's where you can do it.
1-On-1 Pool Facebook page - If you're on facebook, you can use this to talk crap to other players, as well as keep abreast of pool developments. It's a closed group, but simply use the link to request membership and it'll be approved quickly.

As for getting in payment, we'll take care of that in the coming week. Fact is, I'm working a *lot* more these days, so I haven't had time to get the Subscription page updated and calculate all the who-owes-how-much. Soon, though!

And with that, we can get down to the meat of this week's preview:

WEEK 1 PREVIEW

For the newcomers, this spot is where we do our write-ups -- a weekly preview of all the week's divisional matches, plus the occasional important non-divisional contest.

Just two in the works this week, starting with rookie Black And Blues Brothers getting a very difficult test right out of the gate. He'll be facing off against the statisically very best player the AFC has to offer in Louisville Islands. In her first two seasons, she's amassed an incredible 25-7 W/L record and gone deep into the playoffs each time. Will it be Black And Blues Brothers that can put an end to her AFC South reign and grab the glory for himself?

So on the one end, we have a rookie vs. a third-year player. Here we have just the opposite -- two players who have been here from the beginning, and have met head-to-head more than any other pairing. This will be the 25th regular season matchup between Vlad M and Deesato, and it's been a long time since one of these two has managed a season sweep over the other. They currently stand at a dead-even 12-12 record against one another, and whoever wins this one will have something to prove in their season finale match. The last time one of them pulled off two wins against the other was back in 2016 with Vlad M picking up the sweep.

All right, that'll about do it for the first early preview of this campaign. Make sure you have your Thursday Night Football pick submitted by noon on Thursday. For the rookies, and as a refresher to everyone else, if you don't have your pick in on time, then you default to the away team (that would be the Cowboys over the Buccaneers for this one) and you become ineligible to win that week's Player of the Week bonus.

Good luck everyone, and have a great season!

The pick chart is updated and ready for your perusal. Are you the one player whose opponent thinks the Cowboys are going to get past the Bucs tonight? Hit that link and find out!

The picks are all in, and we have both ends of the spectrum of our specialty matches covered!

On the one end, we have a One-Hit Wonder Match of the Week, the aforementioned Vlad M/Deesato contest. Their match will be decided by the winner of the Chargers/Washington Football Team game, with Vlad M going west coast and Deesato going east.

On the flip side of that, we have Mean Machine going against rookie Indiana Jems in our Diverse Picks Match of the Week. For the newcomers, this is defined as a match in which the two players picked differently in greater than 50% of the games, and that's just what's happened here. Of the 16 games this week, they went in different directions for nine of them. A blowout in the making? Could be...

All right, the first full pick chart we've posted in 21 months is now ready for your approval, so head on over and see how things are looking for you in this opening week.

One quick word about posting of results: It's not going to be as quick as it used to be. In previous seasons, I was generally sitting home watching the games and able to get the results posted right away. However, as some of you know, I've been an occasional bartender for the past couple of years -- well, post-Covid, I've been working a lot more, and have earned my way into working on football Sundays. So rather than obsessively updating pick charts, I'll be slinging drinks and making dreams come true. What that means is that ever other week (including this week), it'll be a single Sunday update, either late Sunday night or Monday morning (and if you happen to be in the area, feel free to swing on by the Knights of Columbus for a drink and some damn fine times!)

All right, that's it for this preview -- have a great Sunday, and woo-fricking-hoo, football is back!

WEEK 1 RESULTS

Thursday Night Football through 4:00 Sunday Games: Fourteen of this week's sixteen games are now in the books, and have led to win for defending champ Ragesters, rookie wins for Black And Blues Brothers and Indiana Jems, as well as victories for LV-426 Xenomorphs, Brenda's Bulldogs, Ignats, and Vlad M.

That's seven matches in the books, one that could be settled by the late Sunday game, and all the rest to be determined by the Monday nighter. Take a look at the updated pick chart and check back to see how things come together.

8:30 Sunday Game:One more down as JPP's Missing Fingers rides the Rams to a win. That's eight down, eight left TBD by tomorrow night's game. Check back late Monday/early Tuesday to see how things wrap up.

Monday Night Football: One of the best MNF games in recent memory allowes Delta Dawgs to finish the rookie win trifeca. He's joined in the winner's circle by Green Bowl Tolkers, Jeff B, Beep Bops, Alabama Slammers, Rabid Ferrets, Hoodie's Hoodlums, and Hyena. Nice job by all of of this week's victors!

So here's why putting some extra thought into your MNF score total can really pay off:

This week, we had four players put up a league-best 11 correct picks. Easy wins all around, right? Nope...not since by amazing coincidence, those four players happened to be playing against one another! So that means we had two players put in pick sets which were better than 87.5% of the league...and lose. Daaaamn.

So when the smoke cleared on that debacle, it was Green Bowl Tolkers that had 11 correct picks and the closest MNF score prediction, earning him the season's inagural Player of the Week award -- nicely done!

And that'll wrap things up for this opening week. See your performance on the finalized pick chart, take a look at how you stack up in the Standings, and get a jump on submitting your Week 2 picks. Have a great week everyone!
