We welcome all of our returning players back, and greet this year's rookie class -- joining us this season will be Delta Dawgs, the Black And Blues Brothers, Indiana Jems. Warm welcomes all around to our newbies!
UPDATE! Going forward, The Garoppolo Islands will now be known as Louisville Islands.
With these new additions, here's how the league looks for 2021:

As for getting in payment, we'll take care of that in the coming week. Fact is, I'm working a *lot* more these days, so I haven't had time to get the Subscription page updated and calculate all the who-owes-how-much. Soon, though!
And with that, we can get down to the meat of this week's preview:
Just two in the works this week, starting with rookie Black And Blues Brothers getting a very difficult test right out of the gate. He'll be facing off against the statisically very best player the AFC has to offer in Louisville Islands. In her first two seasons, she's amassed an incredible 25-7 W/L record and gone deep into the playoffs each time. Will it be Black And Blues Brothers that can put an end to her AFC South reign and grab the glory for himself?
So on the one end, we have a rookie vs. a third-year player. Here we have just the opposite -- two players who have been here from the beginning, and have met head-to-head more than any other pairing. This will be the 25th regular season matchup between Vlad M and Deesato, and it's been a long time since one of these two has managed a season sweep over the other. They currently stand at a dead-even 12-12 record against one another, and whoever wins this one will have something to prove in their season finale match. The last time one of them pulled off two wins against the other was back in 2016 with Vlad M picking up the sweep.
Good luck everyone, and have a great season!
On the one end, we have a One-Hit Wonder Match of the Week, the aforementioned Vlad M/Deesato contest. Their match will be decided by the winner of the Chargers/Washington Football Team game, with Vlad M going west coast and Deesato going east.
On the flip side of that, we have Mean Machine going against rookie Indiana Jems in our Diverse Picks Match of the Week. For the newcomers, this is defined as a match in which the two players picked differently in greater than 50% of the games, and that's just what's happened here. Of the 16 games this week, they went in different directions for nine of them. A blowout in the making? Could be...
All right, the first full pick chart we've posted in 21 months is now ready for your approval, so head on over and see how things are looking for you in this opening week.
One quick word about posting of results: It's not going to be as quick as it used to be. In previous seasons, I was generally sitting home watching the games and able to get the results posted right away. However, as some of you know, I've been an occasional bartender for the past couple of years -- well, post-Covid, I've been working a lot more, and have earned my way into working on football Sundays. So rather than obsessively updating pick charts, I'll be slinging drinks and making dreams come true. What that means is that ever other week (including this week), it'll be a single Sunday update, either late Sunday night or Monday morning (and if you happen to be in the area, feel free to swing on by the Knights of Columbus for a drink and some damn fine times!)
All right, that's it for this preview -- have a great Sunday, and woo-fricking-hoo, football is back!
That's seven matches in the books, one that could be settled by the late Sunday game, and all the rest to be determined by the Monday nighter. Take a look at the updated pick chart and check back to see how things come together.
This week, we had four players put up a league-best 11 correct picks. Easy wins all around, right? Nope...not since by amazing coincidence, those four players happened to be playing against one another! So that means we had two players put in pick sets which were better than 87.5% of the league...and lose. Daaaamn.
So when the smoke cleared on that debacle, it was Green Bowl Tolkers that had 11 correct picks and the closest MNF score prediction, earning him the season's inagural Player of the Week award -- nicely done!
And that'll wrap things up for this opening week. See your performance on the finalized pick chart, take a look at how you stack up in the Standings, and get a jump on submitting your Week 2 picks. Have a great week everyone!
